Let's get weird after just 4 days of games
Hello, friend
Welcome to the go-to newsletter in women’s sports, Bet On Women.
We’re excited to cover every waking second of the WNBA season with our original writing, WNBA video show ‘See You In The Lobby’ co-hosted by 2015 All-Star Marissa Coleman, and free-to-play prediction game! It doesn’t stop there. We’ll cover NWSL, tennis and more, too. Follow Gaming Society on Twitter and Instagram to keep up.
Here are today’s must-reads:
Now, let’s get to why you opened the email.
🏀 WNBA MVP rankings after just four days of games 🏀
The Sun are undefeated, the Mystics knocked off the Liberty with ease, the Aces dominated their opener and the Sky won their opening two games as well.
There’s a whole lot of basketball to go, and it’ll fun to look back at this list in a few months, but for now, let’s get into who we think would win MVP if for some reason the league decided to hand out the trophy today.
Note: team records were factored into these rankings. Another note: don’t take this too seriously please, it has been FOUR DAYS OF GAMES.
Ok.
My top-10 as of May 25
1. Alyssa Thomas (+900, bet $10 to win $90) — 18 points, 12.3 rebounds, 5.7 assists
The Sun are undefeated, largely because their star forward has dictated the tempo on both ends. Two wins over the Mystics — a championship hopeful team — were massive.
Alyssa Thomas passing is BACK.
What a high velo, wrap around pass to find Bri Jones

2. Breanna Stewart +200 — 28.5 points, 12.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists
Did you see her 45-point game?
A NEW YORK FRANCHISE-RECORD FOR BREANNA STEWART IN JUST HER SECOND GAME WITH THE LIBERTY‼️

3. Elena Delle Donne +600 — 19.7 points, 7.3 rebounds, 3.3 assists
Had the Mystics at least split games with Connecticut, Delle Donne would probably have been No. 1. It’s so early and these rankings are silly given the timeframe lol. She’s a legit contender.
Oh so *this* is how Elena Delle Donne is feeling this year? Gets a bucket, gets a block, gets an assist in transition. Noted.

4. Kelsey Plum +900 — 23 points, 5.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists
The Aces have only played one game but I’m giving the edge to Plum for MVP based on her 50/60/80 shooting splits lol.
5. Brittney Griner +1200 — 22.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, 4.0 blocks
Griner is the only top-10 representative without a win this season, but she makes this list because of how dominant she’s been. If Phoenix racks up W’s, she’ll climb.
6. A’ja Wilson +380 — 13.0 points, 13.0 rebounds, 1.0 assist
This ranking will look foolish in no time, but I’ve only got the one game to base it on!
7. DeWanna Bonner +10000 — 18.3 points, 3.7 rebounds, 2.0 assists
Connecticut’s offensive prowess doesn’t happen without a scoring-minded wing like Bonner running the show.
8. Jackie Young +10000 — 23.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists
The Aces scored 100+. Several of their players are on this list for good reason!
9. Satou Sabally (unlisted on FanDuel) — 25.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists
It’s been just one game for the Wings, too, but Sabally looked brilliant in the win over the Dream.
10. Kahleah Copper +6000 — 17.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists
The Sky are 2-0 and the Finals MVP looks comfy as the centerpiece.
Just outside
Napheesa Collier +6000 — 18.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists
Allisha Gray (unlisted on FanDuel) — 18.0 points, 8.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists
Nneka Ogwumike +6000 — 17.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists
Arike Ogunbowale +2900 — 27.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 1.0 assist
Jewell Loyd +10000 — 22.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists

🏆 WNBA championship odds are up 🏆
After just four days of games, the lines haven’t moved too far.
The Aces still lead the way at +120 (bet $10 to win $12) to win the 2023 title, followed by the Liberty +140. The Mystics remain a distant third at +1000 while the Sun, despite beating D.C. twice in a row to open the year, are fourth at +2100.
